UK’s smallest freehold pub opens
The smallest freehouse in Britain has now opened in Herne Village in Kent.

The owner; one armed Martyn, has been selling real ale from his shop; the Canterbury Beer shop, for a number of years to local beer guzzlers. He sells it in any quantity you require; from polypins to gallon barrels and always has an excellent selection of good quality ales.
With the new licensing laws he saw a great opportunity to sell beer by the pint as well as in bulk, and went about refurbishing his shop into a petite public house. The Butcher’s Arms has now opened it’s doors to one and all. However turn up early if you want to find room to stand.
“The great advantage of the Butcher’s Arms is you can grab a pint, try some new beer from deepest Cornwall and walk away with a party sized barrel of it for home all from the same place.” said one reveller.
Unfortunately Martyn missed out on being the smallest in the country; that prize goes to the Nutshell in Bury St Edmunds. But the Nutshell is run by Greene King meaning Martyn’s Micropub is the smallest freehouse in the lands.
So raise your tankards and Hail the Ale!
