It’s Noel Edmonds’ fault?

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

An unemployed man who became addicted to TV quiz shows has rung up a phone bill for £9000. Of course who does he blame? The TV shows? Himself? The Government? Jodie Foster?

No, he blames the phone company for letting him spend so much. Personally I would ban the pointlessly pathetic TV quiz shows.

I can’t find the article online, but the Telegraph had the best quote:

“I just ring them when i got bored and I sometimes lose track of time”.
Maybe he should get in contact with this man.

Hate a Tory

Rate which Tory you hate the most at this new website.  Some obscure ones on there too, but unsurprisingly Thatcher’s currently number one.

The Right streams ahead with vidcasting

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Yet again the Right Wing have grabbed hold of the future with both hands, leaving everyone else bewildered and lying in the dust. The Right seem to dominate when it comes to blogging - they were first with ConservativeHome (and then everyone else followed) and many of the top blogs are Right Wing. Now they’re set to dominate the new(ish) medium of vidcasting and internet TV.

This week has seen the launch of WebCameron and Recess Monkey reported that Guido* was going to start doing it too. We already know that Iain Dale et al are doing 18 Doughty Street. But where are the lefty vid bloggers?? Will they be playing catchup?

We over at Vox Polis are divided over the impact of video on line Jonny thinks that no one will want to watch it on the move like they listen to podcasts, and if they do then they’ll fall over/walk into lamp posts/crash their cars whilst watching. He’s also not too convinced that politics will work well in this format. I think it has potential. Apple certainly think it’s the future. The Right think it’ll catch on. Will Jonny eat his TV remote if he’s wrong?

* I know Guido is strictly in the non-aligned section, but he seems pretty Right Wing to me.

Campaign of the week #2 – Smiling poetic animals walk in space

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Last week we saw the start of British Food Fortnight, European Day of Languages and the launch of the Good Pub Guide with the 62p a pint gimmick (hardly any pubs took part, and Jonny turned up late therefore missing out on cheap beer).

According to the scientific Googlefight mechanism, the European Day of Language won, with Food Fortnight coming second (its still got another week) and the Pub Guide in third place.

This week it is Walk to School Week, and International Walk to School Month - so presumably the message is if you like walking keep doing it.

Then there’s World Animal Day and World Space Weeknot animals in space week.

Oh and Don’t forget Poetry Day and the 8th Smile Day on Friday.

Right, I’m off to run over a dog in my car, whilst reading a book and looking very grumpy.
