So what’s this blog all about?
Vox Polis? That sounds all Greek to me!
Well its only half Greek. Vox (Latin) Polis (Greek) means the Voice of the State. It illustrates the effect the Roman Empire had on the Greeks with the invasion of Greece during the Hellenistic period; the usurpation of the Greek culture, language and ideas….much the same is happening today but with a different world power. The choice of name has nothing to do with our poor classical education or the domain we really wanted costing too much money - honest!
What’s it all about then?
This blog is intended to provide a voice, to help us all understand and keep an eye on the work of the political elite. Its about posting articles, essays and interesting points of view covering a wide range of socio-political issues (that’s pretty much anything really). But we also want to consider solutions to problems. It has always been easier to criticise others but much more difficult to suggest alternatives, but why should we have the right to criticise when we dont have any alternative thought of our own?
What’s your political standpoint?
Hmmm…well we like to think of ourselves as Socialist Euro-sceptic, World-sceptic, Utilitarianist, crtyofascist, neo-liberal, Whigist. With a bit of Kantianism thrown in. This is usually widely known as pragmatism.
What’s the editorial policy?
As loose as possible. Offensive or illegal content will be removed but other than that we’ll accept anything within the fuzzy bounds of our remit.
